Ready To Get Started?
Before we can reserve a spot for your Snookums, we will want to have you both come see us for an informal meet-and-sniff (we'll meet, the dogs will sniff) because we only allow friendly canines to play at Scooter's. It's also important that you feel comfortable with us and the place your four-legged family member will be spending time. We want your dog to know that you approve of us, too. This will be a great time for you to ask questions and take a good look at how clean and welcoming our kennel is.
We will also want to see your baby's vaccination records at this time. All canine guests must be up to date on the shots recommended by their vet, including bordetella (kennel cough). We prefer this particular vaccination be updated every six months if your dog will be coming to see us often. We also ask that the Bordetella vaccination be given 10-14 days before your dog is scheduled to stay with us. If your pooch is on an alternative vaccination schedule, that's fine with us as long as your vet will provide written verification of what that schedule is. We are sticklers about vaccinations because we want to keep everyone at Scooter's healthy so the fun can continue for everyone!
Oh, and something else...we won't charge you a thing for this initial visit like other kennels do. We feel it's to everyone's advantage to take the time to make the proper introductions!
What Should We Bring To Scooter's?
There really is only one thing necessary on Zipppy's packing list: FOOD! For most doggies, changing food can be really stressful on the tummy. We'd rather Zip stayed on the diet he normally receives at home while he's with us. For convenience, please bring only the amount of food necessary for your dog for the time you will be away (not the 40 pound bag you have at home). Individual portions in zip-lock bags or small paper bags are greatly appreciated, too. (We will return your bags to use the next time your dog stays with us.) If your dog is on medication, you'll want to be sure the container is labeled with name and dosing instructions.
Best To Leave At Home...
While you might think that having a favorite toy while away from home is a good way to keep Amos from becoming homesick, we've actually found that the opposite is true. It's really stressful for some dogs to have to share their special woobies. So, we'll ask you to leave these at home. The decision whether or not to bring a special bed or blanket is up to you. We have plenty of these items for use by our guests, but if Tiffany can't sleep without her princess blanket or if Schatz needs his orthopedic bed for arthritis, we certainly understand and will do everything possible to return the item to you in good shape.

"Max absolutely loves going to Scooters. Carol and Dave treat every dog as though it was their own. The facilities are perfect for large amounts of 'dog fun' and every dog receives individualized love! I sometimes think that Max prefers being at Scooters over being at home!"
Misty, Mom of Max
"Scooter's Bed and Biscuit is a most incredible doggie daycare and pet boarding facility. I have used their services in both capacities for my dogs since 2007. Having explored many other boarding facilities in the area I strongly recommend Scooter's as the best place for your dog. The difference shows most in that the business is not an institution as much as it is a home. Carol and Dave are passionate for their charges in much the same way a teacher or parent takes their children under their wings. While other boarding facilities have provided for the basic needs of my pets while I've been away, Scooter's is "home" to my dog. Max is always excited to be there, he loves Carol and Dave, and loves the other dogs. This is a great place for your dog!"
Roddy, Dad of Max
"I have found Carol to be reliable, flexible, professional and caring. She has excellent judgment and a calm disposition. I am able to go to work daily and to leave on extended trips without anxiety because I have learned that I can count on Carol to provide excellent care for our animals. Her fees have been reasonable and her service consistently excellent."
Nereyda, Mom of Maggie, Sofia, Fred, Ginger and Bing
"I have always found Carol to be very dependable, honest and competent. I am very comfortable entrusting her with the care of my own pets, and would certainly recommend her to care for yours."
Dr. Susan Clauser, DVM, Creekside Animal Hospital
"Hi Carol and Dave,
Thank you for taking such great care of Logan. It was nice to vacation knowing that he was enjoying his time too. I do think he is a bit lonely now that he is without other canine companionship! Thank you as well for dropping him off that evening. It was truly wonderful to see him after two weeks away."
Kelly, Logan's Mom
"Hi Carol,
Thanks for dropping the dogs off for us. It was so good to have them welcome us home."
Rosie, Ramsey's and Remi's Mom

What We Offer
Caring for dogs is what it's all about! We are experts at keeping dogs happy, either for playtime during the day or overnight while their people are away from home. Doggies love our location in the country near Damascus and all the activity on our farm with horses and sheep to watch and sniff.
Almost any dog would enjoy Scooter's Bed and Biscuit for daycare. We find that pooches who are not aggressive toward other dogs, and who like to run and play with equally fun-loving canines, excel at our B&B. Also, doggies who pine for their people while home alone (and who might get into a little trouble because of their loneliness) LOVE to spend time with us in our constructive, positive and nurturing environment. In addition to lots of play, there is also time set aside for rest and snuggles.
We take the time and make every effort to create a place where all personalities and sizes will feel comfortable. Quiet dogs will enjoy spending time relaxing with loving caregivers who spoil them with belly rubs. Smaller dogs love our "Little Paws" area where they are sure to be safe from big paws. Active dogs will find our play yard really satisfies their need to stretch their legs and receive extra attention from people who will throw the ball over and over and over! We tailor each dog's stay with us to their individual needs in order to make sure stress and anxiety never enter the picture.
Overnight boarding at Scooter's is just as much fun as daycare! After dinner is served, everybody has a rest period for digestion and to enjoy music or videos prior to a final romp before bed. We offer each canine guest the opportunity to sleep at night as they would at home. We have individual kennels for dogs who prefer alone time or we can accommodate those who would like to sleep with the group. Soft beds, comfy sofas and cushy chairs are provided to make our place homey and cozy. When morning comes, we all go outside and greet the day with a few laps around the yard before breakfast, after which we have quiet time to let the kibble settle. By now the daycare dogs are back and we're off and running once again!
At this point, you probably have two questions: 1) How much does all this individual pampering cost for my Fluffy?, and 2) Can humans play at Scooter's, too?
Humans are very welcome to come to Scooter's any time their dog is staying with us! We are dog people and love to have other doggie lovers around. We do, however, charge extra for belly rubs for dog Moms and Dads.
As for the cost for Muffin to be treated to our own brand of doggie lovin', you will be pleasantly surprised. Because we live on-site and do not use separate kennels for our guests (as other boarding facilities do), we can keep expenses low and pass those savings on to our clients. A full day of play (more than 5 hours) for your Precious is only $20 per day; half days (less than 5 hours) are $15. The boarding fee is $30 per night, which also includes full care during the day. If you desire our help with picking up and dropping off your Snookie at your home or work, we will add $5 for each trip within the Greater Portland area. (We will also travel out of our area to provide this service and the fee will depend on your location.) That's it. No extra fees for walks or giving medication or cleaning up accidents or replacing our chewed up toys. We will not nickel-and-dime you for things regular kennels do. For long stays with us (more than 10 days) and caring for more than one dog from the same family, we will even offer you a discount on our care.
Extras!
Here's what you'll get at Scooter's Bed and Biscuit which you won't find at ordinary kennels:
